King's View Academy Partners and Links

 

 

The Maritime Conservatory of Performing Arts, MCPA, comprises a Music Department of 22 instruments and voice, a Dance Department, and the most recent addition, an Opera Department. In addition to providing instruction to students for whom performing arts is a life enhancement, MCPA also provides intensive education and training to music and dance, as well as ballet for students who aspire to professional careers. To this end, MCPA offers junior and senior diploma programs in these areas, admission to which is by audition.

The Canadian Conservatory of Music is a locally owned private music school that has been active in the Halifax Regional Municipality since 1983. It has received regional and national recognition for its innovative approaches in the development of musicians.

The Cassidy Group opened its doors in 1990. Originally intended as a modeling school, it soon incorporated dramatics in 1991, into the curriculum. That same year the services of an agency were added. Since then, The Cassidy Group Model and Talent Agency has become the leading agency in the Maritime Provinces, representing actors and models both regionally and internationally.

The Dalplex is the physical fitness and recreation facility for Dalhousie University. It also offers classes in all areas of fitness. KVA students use this facility to complete their physical education requirements.

Gold Lake Consultants is the company that is responsible for developing the GoldlakeSM Program, a new educational model implemented at King's View Academy. It is responsible for the teacher training, curriculum development, and student evaluation.

Halifax Dance, established in 1973, is a not for profit organization dedicated to the development of dance and movement arts through education, performance and community development. The studios operate year-round with multidisciplinary programs that include recreational, pre-professional intensives and professional training, support for local and visiting professional artists and companies, and production of local and touring performances.

Mad Science is a summer school program for children from 3-12 years old.

Pleiades Consulting Inc. is a software development, education management, and new media company. It was founded in Halifax in 1999, and now has offices in Canada, the United States, and overseas.
King's View Academy, the Maritime Conservatory of Performing Arts (in which King's View is located), Gold Lake Consultants (which operates King's View), and Pleiades have been associated since the day King's View enrolled its first students.
Pleiades offers educational internships to King's View students, and King's View is often the first school to pilot new software systems while Pleiades develops them. The founder and president of Pleiades, Patrick Edwards-Daugherty, volunteers as a board member of King's View Academy.

The KVA Dragon Net provides teachers and students access to the KVA network.  A password is required.
