Where are you living?
New York City
What have you been doing since graduating/leaving KVA?
I left KVA after Grade 8, and am now in my third year at Columbia University, studying socio-cultural anthropology and dabbling in 19th century literature. I am currently interning at a well-known literary agency. This summer, I will be going abroad to London to be a curatorial intern at the Science Museum.
What plans do you have for the near future? Distant future?
I plan to enter the book publishing industry, either on the agenting or publishing side, hopefully with a focus in literary, speculative, young adult and juvenile fiction. Of course, coming from my academic background, I also enjoy ethnographies and histories. I'm not quite sure where in publishing yet - everyone likes editorial, but I'm also interested in the production art & design aspect of it.
Any interesting experiences/vacations?
Ask me in 5 months, I'll have stories about Europe then! Otherwise, I think all my experiences are interesting. Over the years I've gotten much more self-assessing.
What is your current or inspiring thought?
“I have the simplest tastes. I am always satisfied with the best.” - Oscar Wilde
Is there anything you are pondering, reflecting on, or questioning?
I’m always pondering. Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about typography, as in, the history of type and printing and how each type evolves out of their historical and social context. On a semi-related note, the ideas and processes of storytelling have intrigued me, not only out of Bakhtin and Benjamin's work, but also stuff like: why don't American TV shows end their run when the story is finished?
