Part-time Student Program
The KVA Part-Time Student Program allows students to attend classes from rural areas that are not able to be on campus full-time due to travel distances, or other life commitments such as work schedules, professional studies in the sciences, performing and visual arts, cooking, or sports.
The Advanced Placement (AP) courses are also available although an additional charge is applied since these are university level courses. The advantage to the parent is that most universities recognize the AP Program as completing a university level course, or it may take the place of a requisite course. It also allows the student to take a university course with the assistance of teachers and support staff so they understand what is expected.
Courses are designed to meet individual needs such as tutoring, small group instruction, independent study and on-line services. Students are encouraged to be physically present as much as possible, and they may also work from home with on-line support.
For certain courses where labs, group activities and discussions are required, it is necessary to be present and complete the labs or activity with the instructor as well as for assessments. These can be arranged at mutual times for home and school. Students are required to be in uniform when on campus.
