Jarrett Power

What strikes me most about Jarrett is his ability to respond to input without preconceptions. When I talk to him, he doesn't already have some set response to hand back, as many people do. And, therefore, what comes back may be dry, humourous, naive, brilliant, or just a look, but it is always rooted in the present moment.

It was difficult to get him to write about himself. This from a guy who can sing nonsense songs in falsetto in front of the student body and not even raise a blush.

“Jarrett is a good student. He deserves the SOTM award because he works really hard. He has many good qualities that he can manifest, such as leadership, intelligence, and good humour.

"Jarrett has had a good term, and his ability to balance his school work with his drama practice has been very good. When he does not act silly he can be a leader.”

"Jarrett can be seen most days at KVA chatting with Matt about sports. He is an avid hockey fan and enjoys watching the local team, Halifax Mooseheads. He gets most of his academic work finished in time to catch the latest sport gossip. He is a well-rounded individual with many interests and talents. He is involved with this year's drama production, 'The LifeBoat,' and is an active member of the homework club."

"Jarrett has been a permanent fixture at KVA for the past four years. His humour and friendliness help to shape the rapport amoung our students. He is everyone's friend. Jarrett works hard (most of the time), but what stands out most with Jarrett is that he is the 'Stats Master'. He can literally give you the stats from any sport at any given moment."

"Without a doubt, this has been Jarrett's most successful year at KVA.  The fact that he has always possessed the ability to excel has been evident from the beginning, however this year there has been a change in his effort to apply his natural talents and intelligence in realizing his potential.

He has become more mature and subtle in his expressions, and definitely someone who has great leadership capabilities because of his honesty and genuineness.  Gifted with natural inquisitiveness and confidence, we can't wait to see what kinds of activities he will take on in his journey of life.
